Include yourself. Mommy & Me Portraits.
A personal goal I’ve set for myself this year, and on-going, is to include myself in photos with my family. Especially me and my daughter. I’ve always wanted to have a mommy & me portraits session. Being a full time mom and photographer it’s tough.
I have so many photos of my daughter and my husband together I can’t tell you how many. Only a handful of photos with me and my daughter. This needs to stop now.
I spend every day with her and I’m always taking photos of her. Now is the time I include myself in those photos. No matter how messy/unclean my hair is, if I’m not wearing makeup or if I’m still in my pj’s. I need to include myself so my daughter has something to look at when she’s older. Not only for her, but for myself too.
Exactly what I did yesterday. I set up the tripod and my camera in our living room. What I managed to capture, I will treasure now and my daughter will treasure when she’s older. I hadn’t showered. No makeup. I was still wearing my pajamas and my daughter was just being her normal silly self. I love them.
Having a child was the most incredible, challenging and selfless thing I’ve ever done in my life. I need to include myself in these photos. If we’re ever blessed with a second child I will treasure these moments, just her and me, forever. She is a blessing from God and I love the bond we share.
Include yourself in photos with your children! Wether you hire me, or another local photographer, or take the photos yourself. Do it. You won’t regret it, I promise. 🙂
